Accidents happen, but it is always upsetting to lose something important. To help in these situations, the Port of Helsinki has launched a new online service for lost property, eOmistaja. Via the quick and free service, you can check if the Port staff have found your lost items.

“We take care of all items found, and we want to make it easier to find lost property. It is also a responsible practice to promote the items being found and returned to their rightful owners,” says Leonard Sannemann, Passenger Service Coordinator of the Port of Helsinki.
“We believe that passengers will appreciate the easy-to-use service, which will also reduce their need to buy new things to replace lost ones. After all, not everything is replaceable. A child’s toy, for example, may have immeasurable sentimental value.”

The eOmistaja service includes records of all items found at the ship terminals in Helsinki, and the list is easy to browse for everyone. The found items are first stored at the terminals, where you can claim them by providing a description of your item. Each Wednesday, all unclaimed items are moved to Finland’s Found Property Service.
