The Baltic Sea’s new environmentally friendly passenger ships
FIVE NEW passenger and cargo ships will soon be sailing in the Baltic Sea. Each ship has been designed with the latest technology in terms of energy efficiency and environmental friendliness.
The first of these ships is the Aurora Botnia, which will serve the route between Vaasa and Umeå. She made her maiden voyage on 28 August 2021. The Aurora Botnia was built at the Rauma Marine Constructions (RMC) shipyard, which is also where Tallink’s new ship, MyStar, is under construction. The latter will start sailing in early 2022.
Viking Line’s new ship, the Viking Glory, is currently under construction at Xiamen Shipbuilding Industry’s shipyard in China, and will make her maiden voyage in early 2022.
Finnlines has named its new ropax ships after two of the brightest stars in the night sky. Finnsirius and Finncanopus are currently under construction at the China Merchants Jinling shipyard in China, and are scheduled for completion sometime in 2023.
Tallink Shuttle MyStar will be completed in early 2022
